Harilik karuhein Xerophyllum tenax

Perennial plants with a short, thick woody rhizome. The stem is straight, tall, simple. The leaves are narrowly linear, hard, rough at the edges; the ground ones are numerous; the stem ones are sparser and shorter. Flowers in dense terminal racemes, pyramidal or cylindrical, numerous; the perianth leaflets are oblong, ovate or lanceolate, persistent.
